Why a Business Blog?
Blog, short for web log, was a term first coined in 1997. The first hosted blog tools, including Blogger (purchased by Google in 2003) created a surge in popularity. At my first glance, they appeared to be an unnecessarily complicated way to convey information, and I still look at some blogs and wonder if it’s worth my time to wade through a myriad of comments to see what valuable parcels of information can be gleaned. But, as I became aware of several advantages I decided that my personal biases were not quite so relevant. Here are just a few advantages that I’ve come to appreciate, and I’m sure my clients will as well!
- Blog owners can easily update and manage content on their own, using a Microsoft Word-like interface.
- A blog can be customized to match your web site branding (such as: ilenehass.com/blog or can serve as your web site.
- Blogs can be open source software that is free of charge and hosted on your own web space
- You can learn a lot of interesting facts about blogs at Wikipedia.
